Easy Dutch Oven Ham

Here is another great camping recipe. There is basically NO prep work. Which I believe is something most campers try to consider while getting recipes together for their trip!

You start with a Precooked Ham. Probably already frozen. Line your Dutch oven with foil, and plop that ham right inside.

Cover it with foil and place on top of hot coals. If you want to get super creative you can create ridges in the top layer of foil and place a few coals onto that. It will help speed up the heating process.

The end result should be something like this:

Check that out!

It’s even pre-sliced!

Which means even LESS work for you.

Toss some seasoned asparagus onto a grill…

And serve with some of those cheesy potatoes I showed you how to make earlier this week! That leaves you with an over-the-top great Sunday dinner that was a breeze to throw together.

Special thanks to my in-laws for letting me share this great idea on my site today! Can’t believe how quick and easy this dish was to serve up!

Hi! Saw this post on pinterest and I’m considering it for a girls camp I have to cook for this summer. How long did the ham take to heat?

Great ideas. I don’t use aluminum foil, but saw the idea of using cabbage leaves and plan to try those as an alternative, perhaps doing several layers.

I don’t have a dutch oven. Could you possibly do this just wrapped in foil and set on the grate above coals and rotate often? Or other ideas of how we could heat this while camping?
