It is hot here in Utah. August always seems to be the time of year that our freezer is fully stocked with a wide variety of frozen goodies. I’ve been attempting to do my best at staying away from those sugar packed treats and leaning more toward a healthier variety. Smoothies have been my go-to when I’m in need of a good pick me up, and this blueberry watermelon ALO smoothie is top of the list! I used frozen ALO drink as the base, which helped add a punch of flavor.
Let me start out by saying that these drinks were not at all what I expected. When I heard there was literally Aloe Vera inside of the beverage I was a little nervous. I had flash backs to when I was a little kid and my mom would slather that stuff over my sun burns and couldn’t imagine drinking it, but all of that changed the moment I opened the first bottle. They smell divine and have a taste that matches the amazing scent!
ALO come in three different drink lines. You’ve got 9 flavors in ALO original, 3 in ALO light, and 2 coco exposed which leaves you with a huge option to chose from. I love that they don’t only taste great but also come with numerous health benefits. Hop on over to the ALO Website to find details on each of the and where you can buy them. You can also read a little about the all organic aloe farms that produce the pulp that is used. Now, time for that recipe!
- 1 cup fresh blueberries
- 1-1/2 cups frozen ALO watermelon peach cubes
- 1/2 cup ALO watermelon peach juice
- Add your ingredients into your blender. Puree until smooth and enjoy!
It’s that simple. Two ingredients and I’ve got a smoothie that tastes amazing and is providing me with a healthier alternative to help keep me cool. Another quick and easy treat is to pour the juice straight into a popsicle mold!
