Well, it’s officially summer vacation in our home. That’s 90 whole days of me and the little guy enjoying each others company and working our way through our summer bucket list. With our busy schedule I’m always on the hunt for convenient ways to get dinner on the table and was so excited when I saw that DIGIORNO® came out with their new pizzeria line! This called for a little celebratory barbeque and of course it’s not a party without some ice cream!
We called up our family and invited everyone over for a quick shindig. I mean really, you only move to first grade once in your life. It’s kind of worth celebrating. I decided a few of the thin crust pizzas would be the easiest ways to feed a crowd. I headed into Wal-Mart for supplies and had only two quick stops, both in the freezer section.
DIGIORNO® has always been great about using fresh ingredients. The premium toppings mixed with the crispy thin crust was just what we needed to fill our empty bellies.
For dessert I whipped up these beauties:
I picked up a carton of Dryer’s NEW extra thick and creamy strawberry custard for dessert but wanted to serve it in a fun way. It has shortcake pieces and a creamy strawberry swirl with no artificial colors or flavors. It is like ice creams creamier cousin and ideal for filling these simple cones.
I took some pre-made ice cream cones and dipped them in melted chocolate. Top with your choice of sprinkle, fill with the custard, and you’ve got an elegant dessert ready to be devoured.
- 1 bag semi sweet chocolate chips
- ice cream cones
- Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave for 2 minutes making sure to stir every 20 seconds.
- Dip each cone in chocolate followed by sprinkles. Let dry on parchment and fill with your favorite ice cream.
Which flavor are you most excited to try?0
