It’s not very often that I find myself coming to a complete halt in the baking aisle of Kroger, but I just couldn’t help myself when I noticed that Nestle Toll House has a NEW line of baking mixes. With a brand that has over 75 years of baking experience I knew these were going to be good. I snagged 1 box each of their Brownies and More with Butterfinger and Brownies and More with Chocolate Morsels and have already gone back for more. Imagine how my original excitement was sent through the roof when I learned they even have COOKIES! It’s just a matter of time before we pick up both the Cookies and More with Butterfinger and Cookies and More with Chocolate Morsels and give them a try!
But I’m not here to chit chat about how awesome I think these baking mixes are (and they are awesome) but to show YOU the most amazing baking hack I’ve discovered. Apparently you can make one easy swap and take your already delicious brownies to an entirely new level. The secret? Swap the oil for pie filling.
I’ve seen it done with pumpkin and thought it could be just as easy with another flavor combination and one of my favorites is cherries with chocolate. These Black Forest Brownies are almost a little cake like and packed with big bold flavor. It’s the perfect treat as is or with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream right on top. Treat yourself this week and pick up one of the Nestle Toll House Baking Mixes (using one of these coupons) and give this recipe a try!
- 1 box brownie mix (I recommend using NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Brownies & More with chocolate morsels)
- 1 cup cherry pie filling, plus more for topping
- 1 large egg
- 3 tablespoons water
- Vanilla Ice Cream (optional)
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9 inch square baking dish with non-stick spray and set aside.
- Stir together the brownie mix, pie filling, egg, and water. Spread into your prepared pan and bake 40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Top warm brownies with a scoop of cherry filling and vanilla ice cream serving immediately.
