Starting our day off on the right foot is especially important for me. My seven year old is always hungry so making sure he has a filling breakfast in his belly before he heads off to school is high on my priority list. This Pumpkin Pie Oatmeal starts with Promised Land Milk (hooray for protein and calcium!) and is topped with toasted pecans for the perfect breakfast that is great for every day or special occasions!
Promised Land milk boast “extraordinary flavor comes from extraordinary cows.” They use Jersey Cows (the breed of cow, not cows from NJ) which produce a richer and creamier milk that is naturally higher in protein and calcium than ordinary milk. They don’t add hormones and it is tested for antibiotics which makes me feel better about serving it to my little guy. Both my husband and son consider themselves to be milk connoisseur’s and give Promised Land five stars in the flavor category which made it the perfect addition to this warm cereal.
Use this Ibotta offer at Target to earn $0.75 cash back with any purchase of any variety of Promised Land Dairy Milk products 32oz. or larger.
The great thing about this breakfast is that it takes only 20 minutes to prepare. We make it the day before and pop it straight into the microwave to make our morning even easier. Just combine all of the ingredients, cook, and serve with a dash of milk right on top! Your entire home will almost instantly fill with the smell of warm pumpkin pie which will bring the entire family to the table excited to dive in!
- 3/4 cup pumpkin puree
- 2 cups milk (I recommend Promised Land Vitamin D Homogenized), plus more for serving
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
- 1 cup old fashioned oats
- pecans and maple syrup for serving
- Combine the pumpkin puree with the milk, water, brown sugar, and pumpkin pie spice in a medium sauce pan and bring to a boil.
- Stir in the oats and simmer for 10 minutes or until soft.
- Serve topped with additional milk, toasted pecans, and maple syrup.
Make sure you use pure pumpkin and not pumpkin pie filling. Substitute additional brown sugar for the maple syrup.
