Tropical Orange Slush

It’s been a while since I’ve posted to my five o’clock Friday series. While it isn’t quite swimming season yet, I decided that I need a good go-to summer drink that can work for both kids and adults. Something cold and refreshing that can be made with simple ingredients that are already in my refrigerator. Orange juice seems to be a popular drink with my kiddo lately and that is what helped inspire this tropical orange slush!

Start with a little mango orange juice, add some grenadine, and splash in some vodka. Well… That last part is really for the 21 and older only and maybe only if you are looking to add a little kick to your beverage. Pour that over some crushed ice (thank you blender) and you have yourself a cold refreshing drink ready to help cool you down. Nothing beats the heat like an adult version of the amazing slush!

  • Sliced oranges for garnish

  1. Fill two glasses with crushed ice.

Serve this one with a straw. The grenadine settles at the bottom and you’ll want to give it a good stir before taking a sip. Nothing worse than a mouth full of cherry when you are expecting orange. Dax loves this drink (minus the booze of course) after a day of swimming at the pool. It takes me a whopping five minutes to throw together and I instantly become his hero.

It’s still a little chilly here in North Carolina which means I’ll have to wait a few more weeks before I can bust out my blender. Hopefully it’s a little warmer where you are!
