Sweet and savory combine to create this delicious weeknight meal! Apple Baked Pork Chops are a fall flavor combination you will love!
I’ve been searching for a little while for the perfect fall dinner so when I stumbled across this little gem I knew I had found a winner! I really love incorporating fresh produce into my meals and the idea of sweet and savory combinations get me giddy. Peaches are my regular go-to so this year I decided to get a little crazy and replace them with apples! These pork chops are juicy, sweet, savory, and basically everything you’d expect.
This is also the recipe that helped me learn to love boxed stuffing. I’ve only ever eaten homemade (thanks, mom!) so boxed has never been super high on my list of things I indulge in. However, the apples slowly roasting and adding juices to the bread crumbs gives it a fresh new flavor that is hard to resist. Make sure you serve a little bit of everything as you dish up. The best bites were ones that had a little bit of each item.
My seven year old rated this recipe a 8 out of 10 which is saying a lot. Points were lost for pork being the main star because he was so sure he wouldn’t like it. I serve pork a little less frequently than other proteins so he was nervous and unsure what to expect. Even with his lower score he licked his plate clean and declared the meal a success!
Apple Baked Pork Chops
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 3 boneless pork chops
- salt and pepper
- 1/2 onion, sliced
- 1 cup water
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 box pork stuffing unprepared
- 1 medium granny smith apple sliced
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Heat a large cast iron or oven proof skillet over medium heat with the oil.
Season your pork chops with salt and pepper on each side and add to the hot oil along with the onions. Cook until just browned on each side (about 2 minutes per side).
Remove the pork chops and onion and set aside.
Stir the water and butter together in your pan and bring to a boil. Add your packaged stuffing and onions and stir to combine. Top with the pork chops.
Toss the apples with the brown sugar and sprinkle over the top of your dish. Bake 20-30 minutes or until your pork chops are cooked completely.
