  • 2 16oz cans peaches, one drained fully.
  • 1 18.25oz yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup butter sliced into thin pieces
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Instructions

  • Prepare a 9×13 pan by adding a light mist of baking spray.
  • Pour the peaches into the prepared pan, spreading them into an even layer.
  • Sprinkle the dry cake mix directly on top of the peaches. No need to stir.
  • Dot butter over the top of the cake mix, covering as much of the top as possible.
  • Mix together the brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a small bowl.
  • Sprinkle the sugar mixture evenly over the top of the butter.
  • Remember, don’t mix it.
  • Bake 45 minutes, or until the top of the cake is a light golden brown.
  • Serve as is or topped with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

  • Remember not to mix this cake. It’s called a “lazy cake” or “dump cake” for a reason. You want to keep things as easy as possible.
  • Try other variations by using different canned fruits. Some of our favorites are blueberry, cherry, and apple!
  • Want less sugar? Leave out the brown sugar and sprinkle the top of the peaches with cinnamon.
