Ingredients

  • 1 lb asparagus
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt or to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat the grill to medium high heat.
  • Cut the ends of the asparagus. These pieces are woody and tend to be tougher to eat. Use a sharp knife to cut about 2/3 down the stalk.
  • Toss the trimmed asparagus with the oil, balsamic vinegar, garlic salt, pepper, and lemon juice.
  • Grill for 10 to 12 minutes, turning once, or until the asparagus is fork tender and done to your liking.
  • Serve with your favorite main dish recipes.

Notes

  • Can you add more toppings?
Absolutely! I’m a fan of the recipe as written, but we’ve jazzed it up on more than one occasion. Try it with a drizzle of brown butter or sprinkled with bacon crumbles and parmesan cheese.
  • Can I make this recipe in foil?
Yes! Create foil packets with your seasoned and oiled asparagus trims. Seal tightly and cook 10 to 15 minutes, making sure to turn the packet about halfway through cooking.
  • Can I make this recipe in the oven?
Yep. In fact, we often do. Prep the recipe as stated in the instructions. Bake at 425 degrees on a parchment lined tray for 15 to 20 minutes, or until fork tender.
