Ingredients

Apple Base

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 5 cups granny smith apples sliced*

Topping

  • 1 cup quick oats
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup butter melted

Instructions

Apple Base

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and lightly mist a 9 inch baking pan with baking spray.
  • Stir together the granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a medium sized bowl.
  • Add the sliced apples and toss in the mixture until they are coated with the flour.
  • Pour into the bottom of the prepared baking pan.

Topping

  • In a separate mixing bowl, stir together the quick oats, brown sugar, baking powder, and baking soda.
  • Add the butter over the top and mix until it is a crumble like texture.
  • Sprinkle evenly over the top of the apples in the baking dish.
  • Bake for 45 minutes or until the top of the oat mixture is golden brown and the apples are soft. Enjoy warm as-is or topped with a scoop of ice cream!

Notes

I didn’t peel the apples before but think I will in the future. The crisp was still delicious but the skins made it slightly chewy
