4 cups water 1 cup sugar 2 cups fresh blackberries 1 cup lemon juice
Combine 1 cup of water with the sugar and berries in a small saucepan.
Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, smashing the berries with the back of a fork or a potato masher to release some of their juice.
Once the sugar has dissolved, about 2 to 3 minutes of cooking, remove from the heat and allow to cool slightly.
Strain the seeds from the syrup using a fine strainer or cheesecloth into a large pitcher. Discard the seeds.
Stir in the lemon juice and remaining 3 cups of water.
Chill and serve with ice.
Want an elegant look? Add fresh lemon slices and berries to the drink.
Not sweet enough? Mix in 1/4 cup additional sugar.
