Ingredients

  • 3-4 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 cups apple cider
  • ½ teaspoon apple pie spice optional, you can add up to 1 teaspoon for more flavor

Instructions

  • Combine the brown sugar and cream in a small pot. Whisk until the ingredients are fully incorporated.
  • Turn the heat to low/medium and stir constantly until the mixture comes to a simmer or is bubbly, about 2 minutes total.
  • Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract followed by the apple cider.
  • Whisk to combine and move back to the heat. Cook until warmed through and serve.

  • If the cider you purchase has less flavor, whisk 1/2-1 teaspoon of apple pie spice to the cider before adding it to the caramel.

Notes

  • We love this recipe as-is, but you can always add a dollop of whipped cream on top.
