In a large bowl or zip-top bag, combine the marinade ingredients. Add the chicken breasts and toss to coat evenly. Cover or seal and place in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours. For the best flavor, marinate overnight.
Cook
When you’re ready to cook, preheat your grill to medium heat (about 375–400°F). Lightly oil the grates to prevent sticking.
Remove the chicken from the marinade and let any excess drip off. Place on the grill and cook for about 6–7 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
During the last 2–3 minutes of grilling, generously brush both sides of the chicken with BBQ sauce. Close the lid to help the sauce caramelize slightly without burning.
Remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve with extra BBQ sauce on the side, if desired.
