Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup green bell pepper chopped
  • 3/4 cup onion chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 cup water
  • 3/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

Instructions

  • Add the chopped pepper and onion to a large deep skillet with the ground beef over medium heat.
  • Cook for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the ground beef is cooked through and the vegetables are soft.
  • Drain off the grease and then stir in the garlic and cook one minute more.
  • Stir in the remaining ingredients. Bring to a strong simmer and allow the meat mixture to cook for 20 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened but is still juicy.
  • Serve the mixture on your bun of choice. We like a classic hamburger bun or brioche bun.
