Combine the milk, water, butter, flour, yeast, sugar, salt, egg and 1 tablespoon dried onions in the bowl of an electric mixer.
Stir until combined with the paddle attachment.
Switch to the dough hook and knead for 8 minutes or until the dough pulls from the side and forms a ball.
Place the dough into a greased dish. Cover and rest for 30 minutes.
Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces (12 if you want slider sized). Place onto a lined baking tray and cover. Let rest until doubled in size, about 10 to 20 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
Whisk the egg white and use to brush onto the top of the unbaked bun.
Sprinkle with dried onion and bake for 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned.
