Onion Hamburger Buns

Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup butter melted
  • 4 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 package instant yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • teaspoons salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon dried minced onions plus more for topping
  • 1 egg white for egg wash

Instructions

  • Combine the milk, water, butter, flour, yeast, sugar, salt, egg and 1 tablespoon dried onions in the bowl of an electric mixer.
  • Stir until combined with the paddle attachment.
  • Switch to the dough hook and knead for 8 minutes or until the dough pulls from the side and forms a ball.
  • Place the dough into a greased dish. Cover and rest for 30 minutes.
  • Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces (12 if you want slider sized). Place onto a lined baking tray and cover. Let rest until doubled in size, about 10 to 20 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
  • Whisk the egg white and use to brush onto the top of the unbaked bun.
  • Sprinkle with dried onion and bake for 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned.
  • Slice and enjoy.
