Ingredients

  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/4 cup of milk
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 4 cups cooked green beans
  • 1⅓ cup French fried onions

Instructions

  • Set your oven to 350°F so it’s ready when the casserole goes in.
  • In a medium casserole dish, stir together the cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, and black pepper until smooth. Add the green beans and ⅔ cup of the fried onions. Stir until everything is evenly coated.
  • Place the dish in the oven and bake for 25 minutes, or until the mixture is hot and bubbling around the edges.
  • Carefully remove from the oven, sprinkle the remaining onions evenly over the top, and return to the oven for 5 minutes, or until the onions are crisp and golden brown.
  • Let the casserole rest for about 5 minutes before serving to allow the sauce to thicken slightly.

Notes

No crispy onions? Try plain potato chips or crushed Ritz crackers.
Want to use fresh green beans? Substitute 1-1/2 lbs fresh beans for the canned. Be sure to boil for 5 to 8 minutes or until slightly softened.
