Ingredients

The Viral 3-Ingredient Version

  • 4 oreo cookies
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3 tablespoons milk

Optional - For a "Gourmet" Crumb

  • 1 teaspoon melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon sour cream
  • 1 pinch salt

Instructions

  • Use a microwave-safe mug (10–12 oz is ideal). For the easiest cleanup, lightly spray the inside with non-stick spray.
  • Add Oreo cookies to a blender or food processor. Pulse until you have fine, even crumbs. No blender? Pop the Oreos in a zip-top bag and crush them using a rolling pin until finely ground.
  • Pour the Oreo crumbs into the prepared mug. Add baking powder and milk, stirring thoroughly until combined and smooth.
  • Optional: if using stir in the melted butter, sour cream, and salt.
  • Cook the mug cake in the microwave for 1 minute. Carefully check the cake. If the top looks too wet or raw, microwave for an additional 20–30 seconds.
  • Allow the cake to cool for about 1 minute before enjoying. It’ll still be warm, gooey, and irresistible.
  • TIP: Cooking time varies by microwave strength. Start checking at 60 seconds to avoid overcooking. The perfect mug cake will look set around the edges with a slightly soft center.

Notes

If you are unsure of your microwave wattage, I always suggest starting with a lower time and adjusting from there.
