Meet Jesseca Hallows
Welcome to One Sweet Appetite!
Hi! I’m Jess, the recipe developer, cookbook author, and
person behind One Sweet Appetite.
I’ve spent years figuring out which recipes are worth making from scratch and when a good shortcut makes more sense. Because sometimes homemade biscuits are absolutely worth the effort, and sometimes a can of cream of chicken soup makes the perfect chicken pot pie.
I’m a four-time cookbook author, and I’ve shared my love of cooking through television appearances on KUTV and KSL, along with commercials for Harmons grocery store. But most days, you’ll find me in my own kitchen, testing recipes and finding ways to make everyday cooking a little more delicious.
How I Found My Way Into The Kitchen
Believe it or not, I wasn’t always a great cook. One of my earliest attempts at baking involved trying to impress my husband with homemade cookies. They turned out more like rocks than anything you’d actually want to eat.
But I kept trying.
I taught myself to cook through cookbooks, classes, plenty of practice, and more than a few kitchen disasters. Somewhere along the way, I fell in love with figuring out what makes a recipe work. That curiosity eventually turned into One Sweet Appetite, four published cookbooks, and a career I never could have imagined when I was making those rock-hard cookies.
And I’m still learning. That’s one of my favorite things about cooking.
How I Develop My Recipes
After years of cooking, writing cookbooks, and figuring things out through trial and error, I’ve learned that a good recipe is about more than great flavor. It needs to work in a real kitchen, too. Here’s what matters most when I’m creating recipes for One Sweet Appetite.

Beyond The Blog
From My Kitchen to Cookbooks & TV
What started as a love of cooking has turned into some pretty incredible opportunities.
Over the years, I’ve authored four cookbooks, appeared on KUTV and KSL to share recipes and cooking tips, and even filmed commercials for Harmons grocery store.
It’s been fun getting to share my recipes beyond One Sweet Appetite, but my favorite part of what I do is still hearing from someone who made a recipe and loved it enough to add it to their regular rotation.
Come Cook With Me
Now that you know a little more about me, let’s get to the good stuff. Whether you’re looking for a dinner that doesn’t take all evening, a dessert worth turning on the oven for, or a new family favorite, there’s plenty to explore.
Not sure where to start? Here are a few recipes I think you’ll love.
