Ingredients You’ll Need

The beauty of Cinnamon Coffee is in its simplicity—just a few basic ingredients come together to create a perfectly spiced, subtly sweet, and totally sippable cup of comfort. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Coffee grounds – Use a medium or dark roast for a bold flavor that stands up to the cinnamon. A coarse grind works best if you’re using a French press.
  • Cinnamon – Ground cinnamon blends right in, but if you have whole cinnamon sticks, steeping one in your coffee takes the flavor up a notch.
  • Water – Fresh, filtered water makes all the difference. If your tap water has a strong taste, it’ll show up in your coffee.
  • Sugar (optional) – A little sweetness can balance the spice. Try brown sugar for a richer, caramel-like flavor.

That’s it! With just these four ingredients, you’re minutes away from a cup of coffee that feels a little fancier—but is just as easy as your usual morning brew.

Cinnamon in coffee is a simple upgrade that makes my morning cup feel a little more special. The warmth of the cinnamon adds just the right amount of cozy, and when you pair it with a splash of vanilla or a drizzle of honey? Perfection. It’s an easy way to switch up your routine without a trip to the coffee shop.

Tip from Jesseca:

For the smoothest cinnamon flavor, mix the ground cinnamon with your coffee grounds before brewing. If you’re making a single cup, dissolve the cinnamon in a little hot water before stirring it in—this helps prevent any clumps or grit!

Variations

Want to mix things up? Cinnamon Coffee is delicious as-is, but a few small tweaks can take it in a whole new direction. Try one of these fun variations:

  • Vanilla Cinnamon Coffee – Add a splash of vanilla extract or a drizzle of vanilla syrup for a smooth, slightly sweet upgrade.
  • Spiced Mocha – Stir in a teaspoon of cocoa powder for a cozy, chocolatey twist. A sprinkle of cinnamon on top seals the deal.
  • Cinnamon Honey Latte – Swap sugar for a spoonful of honey and add a splash of warm milk for a creamy, café-worthy treat.
  • Iced Cinnamon Coffee – Brew it strong, let it cool, then pour over ice. A little cinnamon simple syrup makes it even better!

However you spin it, this recipe is a great base for creating your perfect cup. Get creative and make it your own!

Cinnamon in Coffee

Making Cinnamon Coffee is as easy as brewing your regular morning cup—but with a flavorful twist! A little cinnamon goes a long way in enhancing the richness of your coffee, and you can customize the sweetness to your liking.

Quick Steps:

  1. Prep the coffee: Add your coffee grounds and cinnamon to the filter of your coffee maker.
  2. Brew: Pour in the water and brew as usual.
  3. Sweeten & serve: Stir in sugar or sweetener if desired. Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon for a fancy touch!

That’s it! A warm, spiced cup of coffee is just minutes away, making your morning routine a little cozier.

Expert Tips

  • Use freshly ground coffee – If possible, grind your coffee beans just before brewing. Freshly ground coffee enhances the flavor and aroma, making it even better when paired with cinnamon.
  • Mix the cinnamon well – Cinnamon can sometimes clump when added to coffee. To prevent this, mix it with the coffee grounds before brewing, or dissolve it in a small amount of hot water before stirring it into your cup.
  • Try different brewing methods – While a standard drip coffee maker works great, French press and pour-over methods allow the cinnamon to infuse more deeply, creating a richer flavor.
  • Cinnamon sticks for a smoother taste – If ground cinnamon feels too strong or slightly grainy, try steeping a whole cinnamon stick in your brewed coffee instead. It adds warmth without the texture.
  • Sweetener swaps – Instead of sugar, try maple syrup, honey, or brown sugar for a more complex sweetness that complements the spice.

Recipe FAQs

Can I add cinnamon directly to my coffee after brewing?

Yes, but it may not mix well and can leave a grainy texture. For best results, brew the cinnamon with the coffee grounds or dissolve it in a small amount of hot water before adding it to your cup.

Will adding cinnamon to my coffee maker clog it?

In small amounts, cinnamon shouldn’t cause issues. However, if you use too much, it can become sticky when wet. To avoid clogging, mix it evenly with the coffee grounds rather than placing it in the water reservoir.

Can I use whole cinnamon sticks instead of ground cinnamon?

Absolutely! Steeping a cinnamon stick in your brewed coffee (or even in the water before brewing) gives a smoother, milder flavor without any grit.

What’s the best type of coffee to use for this recipe?

A medium or dark roast pairs best with cinnamon, as the bolder flavors complement the spice without being overpowered.

How can I make this into an iced coffee?

Brew the coffee as usual, then let it cool to room temperature. Pour over ice and sweeten as desired. For a stronger flavor, make coffee ice cubes to prevent dilution.

Can I make this in a French press or pour-over?

Yes! For a French press, add the cinnamon with the coffee grounds before steeping. For pour-over, mix the cinnamon into the grounds before slowly pouring hot water over them.
