There it is in all of its glory. Even eggnog haters will be asking for this easy dip for gingerbread cookies. Technically, I belong to the haters category, and I love this recipe. So does my five year old.
I watched him lick his small bowl clean. Which is saying a lot. I would even go so far as to say this would be great as a cupcake filling or even topping to a pumpkin pie. It is creamy and just sweet enough that it does not overpower your cookie dippers! We’ve even been known to add a dollop onto eggnog French toast!
EGGNOG DESSERT DIP INGREDIENTS
This is one of the ULTIMATE Christmas dessert dips. I mean, you just cannot beat minimal ingredients and less than 20 minutes of prep! Here is what you will need:
- Eggnog: Pick your favorite brand. We did a quick family taste test and all agreed that Turkey Hill is our all-time favorite. Close second was Southern Comfort.
- Cornstarch: This works as a thickener for the dip giving it that thick and scoopable consistency.
- Sour Cream: It seems weird, but that little bit of tang brought in by the sour cream really does bring it all together.
- Heavy Cream: Beating heavy cream to stiff peaks helps add air to the dip. This takes it from dense to light and fluffy. Technically you can use Cool Whip, but the flavor and texture will differ slightly.
- Sugar
Tip: Try using Pumpkin Eggnog for this sweet dip!

RECIPE TIPS
This is the TOP of all eggnog dessert recipes. So quick to make and tastes insanely addictive. Below are some of the top questions I’m asked about this recipe.
What is eggnog dip?
Eggnog dip is a creamy dessert that is the perfect way to highlight the classic holiday flavor. Eggnog and cornstarch are combined in a small saucepan and cooked until slightly thickened. Sour cream and whipped cream are folded into the cooled mixture giving you a light and creamy dip recipe.
What to serve with dessert dip:
Eggnog dip is best served with your favorite Christmas cookies. We especially love to use crisp gingersnaps or gingerbread cookies.
My only advice is to make this at least one day in advance. It needs a while to cool completely and it is not too great warm.
Dust with a little cinnamon to give it a great appeal and be prepared to watch this disappear. This is great to take to family parties or get together because it is so simple to make. Be prepared to hand out the recipe!
