So it all started when I decided to make a peach cobbler (details on that coming soon!). It only made sense that if I was going to have warm peach goodness that I would smoother it in freezing cold ice cream. Kind of get that hot and cold effect going. It’s like a party in your mouth and if you haven’t tried it I highly suggest you run to the store right this second and get both of those two things. You can thank me later.
Anyway, I looked in the freezer and realized I was ALL OUT of the good stuff. I did happen to have an ice cream maker that was collecting dust. I googled around and got busy in the kitchen. In case you didn’t know (and I totally didn’t) the freezer bowl needs to chill for a while. Like… an entire day. Also, you need to let things cool down before you pour them in and get churning. Those two strikes against me were all that I needed to end my morning with a gooey mess.
Luckily for me, I shared my ice cream making woes with a neighbor. She was polite and looked at me like I was a nutcase (we only just met a few days ago) and politely excused herself to finish some chores. Fast forward half a day later and she was knocking at my door with THIS recipe. She MADE ME ICE CREAM. For you.
And it’s GOOD. Like, surprisingly delicious. It has a creamy texture and a bold vanilla flavor. Can you say that? “Bold Vanilla?” Seems so wrong, but trust me… It tasted so right.
This ice cream is AMAZING on top of my vanilla pound cake.
