Air Fryer S’mores- Easy to make and the perfect summertime treat! All you need are three simple ingredients; grahams, marshmallows, and chocolate!

Two homemade s'more on white plate with extra marshmallows

I love summer. It brings warm weather, swimming parties, hiking, and above all… CAMPING.

This year was a tad different. Our schedules are jumbled and we are finding it harder and harder to escape into the great outdoors. But we did not let that stop us from enjoying our favorite sweet treat.

Full disclosure, this genius way to make s’mores indoors will quickly become a hazard to your waistline and a favorite quick treat. Consider yourself warned. They are PERFECT for Apartment Glamping!

S’more Ingredients:

Ok, so this list is pretty basic. You already know what goes into a classic s’more, am I right? BUT you need to check out some of these suggestions. We consider ourselves s’more professionals and have selflessly tried so many different variations just so we could suggest the best to you!

  • Graham Crackers- The base of your sandwich. We have found that Honey Maid makes our favorite, but won’t shy away from the off brand. You can even make your own chocolate graham crackers if you’re feeling adventurous!
  • Marshmallows- BIG ol’ mallows is what you want to look for. I have even used the ones shaped like a square that are specifically made for s’mores and they worked well, but aren’t necessary.
  • CHOCOLATE- Ok, so if you want to stick with the “classic” reach for a Hershey’s bar. If not, check the suggestions below!

What type of chocolate to use for s’mores:

Possibly THE most important paragraph in this entire post. I know it seems like such a silly suggestion to try anything beyond classic milk chocolate bars, but trust me. You can get so creative and really take your s’more to the next level with some of these suggestions!

  • Hershey Bars
  • Peanut Butter Cups
  • Nutella
  • Bacon (with a milk chocolate bar)- Trust me. it is like salty sweet perfection.
  • Peanut Butter (with a milk chocolate bar)

TIP: Always use milk chocolate and try to avoid dark. Milk chocolate melts quickly and gives you that gooey chocolate that makes these so messy and delicious.

How to make S’mores in an air fryer:

  1. Place graham squares on the bottom of the pan of your air fryer.
  2. Carefully place one large marshmallow onto each square. I find it helpful to create a small slice onto the bottom of the marshmallow. This makes it slightly sticky so it will firmly hold to the cracker.
  3. Gently place the tray into your air fryer, trying to avoid jostling the crackers.
  4. Heat the air fryer to 390 degrees. Immediately, do not wait for it to preheat, set a timer for 4 minutes.
  5. Check the marshmallows at 4 minutes, if they are not lightly toasted, continue to cook for 1 to 2 more minutes.
  6. Carefully remove from the air fryer once they have become large and golden.
  7. Immediately press with chocolate and top with a second graham square, creating a sandwich.
  8. Enjoy!

Indoor s’mores made in the oven:

Here is the deal, not everyone has an air fryer, but that does not mean you can’t enjoy these treats too! Here is a quick walk through of how to make s’mores in the oven:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Line a cookie tray with parchment. Not required, but it will really help with cleanup!
  3. Place half of your graham squares onto the tray. Top with a large marshmallow.
  4. Carefully transfer to the oven, being sure to keep the tray steady and the marshmallows in place.
  5. Bake 3 to 5 minutes, or until the marshmallows are large and toasted.
  6. Remove from the oven and immediately press a chocolate piece into the marshmallow. Top with a second graham.
  7. Enjoy!

Tips and tools for this recipe:

  • Do not be afraid to play with flavors! We like to add peanut butter, jelly, Nutella, or other candy pieces to our s’mores!
  • An Air Fryer- I have the Instant Vortex 4 in 1. It is well used and well loved. Best purchase.
  • Use a silicone spatula to carefully remove the s’mores from the air fryer (or oven). This one is a staple in my kitchen. I have had it for years and use it for everything.
