Lucky Charm Cereal Treats stacked on a counter

I am such a sucker for marshmallow cereal treats. They are just so stinken easy to make and so incredibly delicious.

Like, really, have you ever had a soft and gooey cereal bar that just melts in your mouth?

While they are typically made using rice puff cereal, this version uses lucky charms to make them magically delicious!

Recipe Features:

  • 3-Ingredient treat idea
  • No-Bake Dessert
  • Fun St. Patrick’s Day Dessert Idea!

What You Need:

Turns out, you don’t need much to make these dessert bars. Cereal, butter, and marshmallows. That’s really it!

So while I would like to go on and on about ingredients and their important roles in this easy recipe, there isn’t much for me to say.

EXCEPT, use salted butter. The touch of salt will kick these up a notch and elevate the flavor of the cereal.

Step by Step Instructions:

1. Prepare a 9×13 dish by buttering or misting with cooking spray (we like coconut oil spray).

2. Melt the butter in a large pot.

3. Stir in the marshmallows and stir with a silicone spatula until melted.

4. Working quickly, add the cereal and stir to combine fully with the melted marshmallow mixture. Transfer to your prepared dish. Gently press into an even layer.

5. Allow the bars to sit for 5 to 10 minutes. Slice and serve!

Tips and FAQs:

  • Always butter the dish before you press down the cereal treats. This will help ensure you can get them out when you are ready to eat them.
  • Butter your fingers to help keep the marshmallows from sticking as you press them down. You could also butter a piece of wax paper and use that to press the treats as well!
  • GENTLY press the treats down. You only want them lightly pressed into the pan. Pressing too hard will result in less gooey and more crunchy bars.
  • Keep the bars stored in a covered container on the counter for the best shelf life.

How to make cereal treats in the microwave:

No stove? No problem! While I suggest sticking with the stove top method… You can always make this treat using your microwave.

  1. Place the butter and marshmallows in a large microwave safe bowl.
  2. Heat for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring every 1 minute, until melted.
  3. Working quickly, add the cereal and stir to combine fully with the melted marshmallow mixture. Transfer to your prepared dish. Gently press into an even layer.
  4. Allow the bars to sit for 5 to 10 minutes. Slice and serve!
