Why You’ll Love This Starbucks Copycat
- Budget Friendly: Skip the drive thru, and save some cash, by making this on your own at home!
- Quick and Easy: Toss everything into the blender, pulse, and enjoy! It’s that simple.
- Customizable: You’re in control, which means you can achieve the perfect sweetness level!
I’m obsessed with creating my favorite Starbucks recipes at home. It’s so simple, saves you money, and gives you more control over the end flavor. All of this started with the classic pumpkin spice latte. I desperately needed my fall fix, but the stores weren’t stocked with the right ingredients. One quick trip to the store later and I’d whipped up a near idential version at home, and it was SO EASY.
This year I’m overly obsessed with all iced coffees. Since fall is here, but the temperature is still HOT, I decided it’s the perfect time to make a pumpkin iced latte! This recipe is so dang simple that it will have you kicking yourself for not trying it sooner. I’ve made it over a dozen times in the last two weeks and STILL have enough ingredients to make more. Budget friendly, tasty, and the perfect recipe to welcome fall.
Iced Pumpkin Spice Latte Ingredients
- Espresso: Here’s the deal, you can definitely make this with strong brewed coffee. It’s delish. However, nothing beats a shot of espresso. I’ll include both versions in the recipe card below.
- Pumpkin: Pumpkin puree, NOT pumpkin pie filling. Pie filling has a bunch of additives that will strongly change the end results of this recipe. Trust me. I tried so you didn’t have to .
- Milk: Pick your milk of choice! I make my lattes with two percent, but I’m also a fan of almond and coconut milk. Whole milk will give you a much more rich and creamy finish.
- Sweetener: I like brown sugar, or brown sugar syrup. It’s sweet, rich, and adds an almost caramel like finish. That being said, regular sugar or honey will work too!
- Extras: Optional, but a dash of pumpkin pie spice and vanilla adds a delicious finish.
How To Make An Iced Pumpkin Spice Latte At Home
- BLEND: Combine all of the ingredients into a blender and pulse for 30 to 45 seconds, or until combined.
- ICE: Fill a glass, or cup of choice, with ice. I like to fill mine about 2/3 full.
- POUR: Top the ice with the coffee mixture.
- TOP: Optional, but you can add a little whipped cream if you’d like.
- ENJOY: Add a straw and enjoy!
How To Make Brown Sugar Syrup For Coffee
Can you use regular brown sugar in this recipe? Yep. However, we really LOVE to use brown sugar syrup. You can buy premade syrups (affiliate) or you can make your own with just three ingredients! Here’s how:
- PREP: Combine 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup water, and one cinnamon stick in a small pot.
- SIMMER: Bring to a simmer and allow it to cook for 5 minutes, or until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture has slightly reduced.
- COOL: Let the mixture come to room temperature and remove the cinnamon stick. Enjoy with your favorite coffees.
Helpful Tools
- Espresso Maker: Did you know you can get an espresso machine (affiliate) for around $30? This is the one I have and I love it. It doesn’t take up too much space and makes a killer shot of joe.
- Iced Coffee Glasses: AKA an insulated tumbler (affiliate). There is nothing worse than having your ice melt and drown out the flavor of your coffee.
- Blender: I love my blendtec (affiliate), but we tested this with a basic blender (affiliate) that was a smidge more affordable and it worked just as well.
Recipe Notes:
A: You can use any type of milk you prefer, whether it’s dairy milk (whole, skim, or any other variation) or non-dairy milk (such as almond milk, soy milk, oat milk, etc.). Use your favorite kind to suit your dietary preferences.
The amount of sweetener you add is subjective and depends on your taste preferences. Start with 1-2 tablespoons of sweetener (sugar or syrup), and adjust according to your desired sweetness level.
Absolutely! You can use coffee as a substitute for espresso in an iced latte. While traditional lattes are made with espresso, using coffee is a common and delicious alternative. Simply brew a strong cup of coffee using your preferred method and use it as the base for your iced latte. The coffee should provide a similar flavor profile and a satisfying caffeine kick. Feel free to experiment with different coffee varieties to find the one that suits your taste preferences. Whether you go for espresso or coffee, you’ll still be able to enjoy a refreshing and enjoyable iced latte experience.
No. Pumpkin pie filing has extra ingredients that will change the end result of this recipe.
I do not recommend making this in advance. However, you can make a batch of my homemade pumpkin spice creamer and keep it stored for a week while you sip through.
