Ingredients You’ll Need

Here’s the deal. This patriotic punch keeps it simple with just three main ingredients. The fruit is where you can get creative. We used red, white, and blue favorites for a festive touch, but feel free to use whatever you have on hand!

  • Tropical Punch: We used Hawaiian Punch for that bold red color and sweet flavor that screams summer.
  • Pineapple Juice (or chunks in juice): Pineapple adds a tropical kick. We like using canned pineapple chunks in juice and tossing the fruit right in for extra flavor and fun.
  • Ginger Ale or Sprite: Either one adds the perfect fizzy finish—go with what you like best or what’s in the fridge.
  • Apples, Strawberries, and Blueberries: These add the red, white, and blue vibes. Slice the apples thin for a pop of white, and toss in as many berries as you like.

This punch is super customizable, so don’t stress. Just pour, stir, and serve!

This summer Punch is always a hit at our summer get-togethers. It’s fruity, festive, and ridiculously easy to throw together. No measuring stress or fancy ingredients required. I love how the red, white, and blue fruit gives it that holiday vibe without any extra effort. Everyone always goes back for seconds (and thirds).

Tip from Jesseca:

Use frozen strawberries and blueberries in place of ice—they’ll keep the punch cold without watering it down and look extra festive floating in the glass.

Variations and Substitutions

This 3-Ingredient Punch is super flexible, which makes it perfect for last-minute parties or using what’s already in your fridge. Here are a few easy ways to switch it up:

  • Tropical Punch: Any red fruit punch or cranberry juice cocktail will work. You can also try a cherry-limeade or strawberry lemonade for a fun twist.
  • Pineapple Juice: No pineapple juice? Orange juice or mango juice are great substitutes. If you’re using canned pineapple in juice, just skip the extra juice and pour the whole can in.
  • Ginger Ale or Sprite: Swap with any lemon-lime soda, sparkling water, or club soda if you want something less sweet.

Want to mix it up? Add frozen fruit instead of ice cubes to keep it cold without watering it down. Or turn it into a grown-up version by adding a splash of vodka, rum, or sparkling wine. However you make it, this punch is made to be fun and fuss-free.

How To Make Fourth Of July Punch

This red, white, and blue punch couldn’t be easier to make, and it looks just as festive as it tastes. With only three main ingredients and some optional fresh fruit, it’s the perfect crowd-pleasing drink to mix up right before guests arrive.

  1. Combine the tropical punch and pineapple juice in a large punch bowl or two pitchers.
  2. Stir well to mix the flavors.
  3. Chill until ready to serve—this can be done a few hours ahead.
  4. Top it off with Ginger Ale or Sprite and plenty of fresh fruit right before serving.

Want to make it boozy? Just stir in about 2 cups of vodka, tequila, or white rum before adding the soda. This punch is bright, refreshing, and guaranteed to disappear fast!

Tips for Success

  • Chill all your ingredients before mixing. Cold juice and soda mean you won’t need as much ice, which keeps the punch from getting watered down.
  • Use frozen fruit instead of ice. It keeps the drink cold and adds extra color and flavor without diluting it.
  • Add soda right before serving. This keeps the fizz fresh and the punch feeling bubbly and fun.
  • Use clear pitchers or a glass punch bowl. The vibrant colors and floating fruit look extra festive and Instagram-worthy.
  • Taste and adjust. If your pineapple juice is super sweet or your punch is too strong, a splash of sparkling water or extra citrus can balance things out.
  • Add a fruit garnish bar. Let guests customize their drinks with extra strawberries, blueberries, or citrus slices for an interactive and festive touch.

Helpful Tools

  • Pitcher: I use a pitcher (affiliate) for serving, because I find it easier and less space consuming. This one specifically is beautiful with the different edges and design.
  • Punch Bowl: If you prefer a more party friendly display, try a punch bowl (affiliate). Orange slices and cranberries floating on top are simply beautiful.
  • Glasses: My current obsession are this set of stemless champagne flutes (affiliate). They are so elegant without the risk of accidentally breaking the long thin stem. You can also stick with something simple like solo cups or mason jars!

Recipe FAQs

What can I use instead of pineapple juice?

Orange juice or mango juice are great substitutes if you want a slightly different tropical flavor.

Can I use fresh strawberries and blueberries?

Absolutely! Fresh fruit works great and adds a festive pop of color. You can also use frozen fruit to help keep the punch cold without watering it down.

How do I make this punch less sweet?

Use sparkling water or club soda instead of ginger ale or Sprite. You can also dilute the punch with extra ice or add a splash of lemon or lime juice.

What’s the best way to serve this for a crowd?

Use a large clear punch bowl or beverage dispenser so guests can serve themselves. Add fruit and soda just before guests arrive to keep everything tasting fresh.

Can I double or triple the recipe?

Yes! This recipe is super easy to scale up. Just make sure your pitcher or punch bowl is big enough, and keep proportions the same.

Storage and Make-Ahead Instructions

This punch is perfect for prepping ahead, especially if you’re hosting a crowd and want one less thing to worry about.

  • To make ahead:
Mix the tropical punch and pineapple juice up to 24 hours in advance and store it in the fridge. Keep the soda and fruit separate until just before serving to maintain the fizz and freshness.
  • To store leftovers:
If you’ve already added the soda, the punch will still be drinkable for about a day but may lose its fizz. Store any remaining punch in a sealed pitcher in the refrigerator and enjoy within 24 hours for the best taste.

Red, White, and Blue Punch Recipe

Author Jesseca
Prep: 5 minutes
Total: 5 minutes
Serves: 8 -10
This super simple 4th of july punch is non-alcoholic and uses only THREE main ingredients. Added fruit gives it that patriotic red, white, and blue color that is perfect for your celebrations

Ingredients

  • 8 cups Tropical Punch (Hawaiian Punch)
  • 2 cups pineapple juice
  • 1 litter Ginger Ale or Sprite
  • 2 cups fruit

Instructions

  • In a large punch bowl or two large pitchers, pour in the tropical punch and pineapple juice. Stir well to combine.
  • Place the mixture in the refrigerator and chill for at least 1 hour, or until you’re ready to serve. This helps keep the drink cold without watering it down with ice.
  • Just before serving, top with Ginger Ale or Sprite to add some fizz. Add fresh fruit like sliced apples, strawberries, and blueberries for a festive red, white, and blue finish.

To Make It Alcoholic:

  • Prepare the recipe as directed above. Then, stir in 2 cups of your preferred alcohol—vodka, white rum, or tequila all work well. Serve chilled over ice.

Notes

  • If you are serving a large crowd you can easily double this recipe.
  • Try freezing the fruit to help keep the punch chilled without watering it down.
  • You can also freeze a little of the punch and fruit in a bundt pan to make an ice ring. This looks especially pretty in a punch bowl.
  • Planning on the party running long? Divide the punch in half. Serve the first bit at the beginning and keep the second half stored in the refrigerator until the middle of the party.
  • Try to only serve ice on the side or in the serving cups. Small ice cubes melt quickly and will dilute the punch flavor.
  • Use fruit cutters (affiliate) to create star shapes to add more patriotic fun!

  1. In the 4th of July punch, what fruit did you use for the stars?

    1. Hi Becky, these were apples. If you rinse them in cold ice water they shouldn’t turn brown.

  2. 5 stars
I accidentally bought orange pineapple juice. Not having had this punch before, not sure if the orange would make it taste off? Would love your thoughts. TIA!

    1. Hi Laura! The flavor will be slightly different but I think it will work. This punch is very forgiving. Let us know if you try it and if it works out!
