Cinnamon Honey Butter is the kind of spread that makes everything, from toast to dinner rolls, taste like a treat. Only 3 ingredients and takes just minutes to whip up, but feels like something straight off a steakhouse menu. If you’re looking for a simple way to upgrade breakfast or impress guests, don’t skip this one.
A rich blend of honey, butter, and cinnamon makes it an ideal topping for Texas Roadhouse Rolls, fresh-baked cornbread, gingerbread pancakes, banana bread waffles, and so much more. The possibilities are endless.

Why This Sweet Butter’s A Keeper
- Quick and Easy: You can’t beat a topping that comes together in just five minutes and delivers such a sweet flavor punch.
- Irresistible Flavor: Cinnamon honey butter combines the warmth of cinnamon and the sweetness of honey, creating a delectable spread that’s both comforting and indulgent.
- Copycat Recipe: To give you a good flavor comparison, this recipe tastes almost exactly like the spread you get at Texas Roadhouse. I could eat this with a spoon.
This Cinnamon Honey Butter recipe is sweet, creamy, and dangerously easy to make. With just three ingredients and five minutes, you’ve got a spread that instantly upgrades toast, pancakes, biscuits, or even baked sweet potatoes.
It whips up light and fluffy, thanks to a quick mix, and the combo of warm cinnamon and rich honey feels like a cozy hug. Keep a jar in the fridge. You’ll find yourself reaching for it way more than you think.

Before You Start Mixing
The great thing about this recipe is that it only calls for three simple ingredients- all three of which are pantry staples. You can make this in advance and it is a big show stopper on the table. Minimal effort with a big flavor? I consider that a win! Here is what you will need to get started:
- Butter: Here’s the biggest tip I can give you. Use salted butter. The added salt helps to enhance the sweetness from the honey and the slight spice of the cinnamon. It helps blend everything together in a harmonious flavor bite. If you opt for unsalted I suggest adding a pinch of salt to the recipe.
- Cinnamon: Ground cinnamon, which I happen to buy in bulk at Costco, is what you’ll want to use. It’s one of my favorite things about this honey cinnamon butter.
- Honey: I buy the bigger honey containers from Costco, but have also been known to use local raw honey with equally delicious results. In a pinch you could also try maple syrup, although this would give you more of a maple flavor vs the sweet honey.
Tip: I have seen many many recipes add powdered sugar to their Texas Roadhouse butter recipe. I have experimented with and without and see no need for the added sweetness.

Jesseca’s Recipe Review
This Cinnamon Honey Butter is my go-to for turning basic bread into something special. It’s sweet, just a little spiced, and ridiculously easy to make. I keep a batch in the fridge at all times. My family devours it on everything from waffles to cornbread.
Tip from Jesseca:
For the fluffiest texture, make sure your butter is truly soft, not melted, before mixing. It makes a huge difference in how light and spreadable the final result is.

Customize It
This homemade honey butter is easy to customize depending on what you’re pairing it with or what you have in the pantry:
- Unsalted Butter: You can swap in unsalted butter. Just add a pinch of salt to balance the sweetness.
- Maple Twist: Replace the honey with maple syrup for a fall-inspired flavor that’s perfect on pancakes or biscuits.
- Brown Sugar Swap: No honey? Use 2–3 tablespoons of brown sugar instead for a deeper, caramel-like flavor.
- Add Vanilla: Stir in ¼ teaspoon of vanilla extract for a little extra warmth and depth.
- Pumpkin Spice Version: Swap the cinnamon for pumpkin pie spice for a seasonal twist that pairs well with muffins and toast.
- Dairy-Free Option: Use a plant-based butter substitute. Just make sure it’s a stick version, not a tub, for the right consistency.
With just a few tweaks, this spread can go from classic to custom in seconds.
Tips for Success
- Use room temperature butter: Soft (not melted!) butter whips up light and fluffy. Leave it out for 30–60 minutes before starting.
- Whip it longer than you think: Whipping the butter for a full 2–3 minutes adds air and creates a creamy, spreadable texture that holds up in the fridge.
- Adjust to taste: Start with the base measurements, then add more honey or cinnamon to suit your preference. Some like it sweeter, some like it spicier.
- Scrape the bowl often
- Butter loves to cling to the sides. Scraping it down ensures everything blends evenly.
- Store it right: Keep in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. Let it sit at room temp for a few minutes before serving for easier spreading.
- Make it fancy: Pipe it into ramekins or shape it into a log with parchment paper for a dinner party-worthy presentation.
Helpful Tools
- Mixing Bowl: (affiliate) A sturdy mixing bowl is essential for combining all the ingredients effectively.
- Spatula or Hand Mixer: (affiliate) Use a spatula for hand mixing or a hand mixer for smoother and faster blending of the butter, honey, and cinnamon.
- Measuring Cups and Spoons: (affiliate) Accurate measurements are crucial in baking, so have measuring cups for the butter and honey, and measuring spoons for the cinnamon.
- Whisk: (affiliate) A whisk can be handy for incorporating the cinnamon into the mixture evenly.
- Container with Lid: (affiliate) You’ll need an airtight container with a lid for storing your finished Cinnamon Honey Butter.

How to Serve Honey Butter Like a Pro
This basically makes everything taste a little more special, so think of this as your permission slip to put it on… well, anything.
- Warm carbs: Rolls, biscuits, cornbread, pancakes, waffles. If it’s warm and slightly bready, honey butter is its soulmate.
- Sweet breakfast moments: Spread it over toast, bagels, English muffins, or swirl a little into oatmeal for a low-effort upgrade.
- Veggies that need flair: Melt a spoonful over roasted carrots, sweet potatoes, or steamed green beans. Kids suddenly think you can cook.
- Holiday boards: Add a small dish to your bread or brunch board. People will “accidentally” eat half the basket.
- Dessert drizzle: Warm it up for a second and pour over baked apples, muffins, or cinnamon rolls.
Bottom line? Serve it soft, serve it warm, and serve more than you think you need. It always disappears first.
Everything You Ever Wondered About Honey Butter
Stored in an airtight container in the fridge, it’ll stay fresh for up to 2 weeks. Let it sit at room temp before serving for easier spreading.
Absolutely. Wrap it tightly in plastic wrap or scoop into a freezer-safe container. It’ll keep for up to 3 months. Thaw in the fridge overnight.
A mixer makes it super fluffy, but you can mix by hand using a spatula. Just be sure your butter is very soft so it blends smoothly.
Totally. Add more or less honey and cinnamon to taste. You can even mix in a little vanilla or nutmeg for extra flavor.
Try it on toast, pancakes, waffles, cornbread, muffins, sweet potatoes, or warm dinner rolls. It’s also amazing melted over popcorn. (Trust me.)

Honey Cinnamon Butter
Ingredients
- 1 cup salted butter (softened)
- 6 tablespoons honey
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions
- Add the softened butter to a medium mixing bowl. Using a hand mixer or a sturdy spatula, beat the butter on medium speed for 1 to 2 minutes, or until it becomes light, creamy, and slightly fluffy. This step helps create a smooth, whipped texture.
- Use a spatula to scrape down the sides of the bowl, pulling all the butter into the center. Add the honey and cinnamon to the bowl.
- Continue mixing for another 1 to 2 minutes, or until the honey and cinnamon are fully incorporated and the mixture looks creamy and uniform.
- Transfer to a small jar or serving dish. Serve immediately with warm rolls, toast, pancakes, or anything that needs a sweet, buttery upgrade. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
Notes
- Make sure the butter is room temperature. Leaving it out of the refrigerator for 20 minutes or more will help you start with a soft butter- which means the honey can mix in evenly.
- Want to make this a dairy free cinnamon butter? Opt for a vegan butter option like Earth’s Balance in place of the butter.

Is there an actual recipe in there somewhere? I’ve dodged the excessive ads three times, but nowhere do I find how much butter, how much honey, or how much cinnamon! You call this a recipe?!
Hi there Kim, sounds like you’re not having a great day and could use a little kindness. I’ll help you figure out how to find the recipe. At the top of the post there is a “JUMP” button that takes you straight to the recipe card so you don’t have to deal with scrolling, even though scrolling is what helps me keep these recipes free. The recipe card is located at the bottom of the post, which is actually filled with all kinds of helpful information and not written without purpose. The full recipe and measurements is in that card. It’s even printable.
Hope this helps and I hope that maybe in the future you could extend a little kindness to others before posting a negative rating (without actually trying the recipe). I make myself available to help anyone that is struggling with a recipe, or my site, and am always happy to help.
you have to look
I didn’t like it at all. Way too much honey. I tried this recipe because my sister wanted something more like texas road house has, this wasn’t it. I like it made with marshmallow cream and powdered sugar, sooo much better.
Fair enough. However, this recipe is a very traditional honey butter. You could always decrease the amount of honey added if you found it too sweet. I make this for all of our big family dinners and food deliveries. This is the first complaint about it not having marshmallow creme.
then it’s not honey butter
So good I mad it for THanksgiving and it was a hit thanks for the yumminess!
This looks SO good! I definitely will need to make this soon!
Mmmmm Mmmm Mmmm i wish I had gotten to taste more (and don’t go to up-chuck a rama)
I love Cinnamon Honey Butter! Reminds me of when my family would go to Chuck-A-Rama and eat until we could eat no more. Great memories. I bet this tastes even better than the stuff at Chuck’s!
I love when a recipe is tied into a personal experience! I’ve never been to Chuck-a-rama, but I’m going to guess it’s just as good!
So, I totally got fat after we got married because of bread & butter. Why are you teasing me with this?! Lol. YUM!
Bread and butter is my downfall too!! I feel for ya :0)
Yum. I may need to buy some rolls just so I can have this.
This cinnamon honey butter was so good. I ate some on my rolls (also provided by you) on my toast the next morning an I licked my fingers clean after I got a little on them. So so so so good.
SO glad you liked it! It was fun to be able to share with everyone!
Oh dear. Is it wrong to eat plain butter? Yes? I guess I will have to make rolls too.
My theory is that if no one see’s you… it didn’t happen. Right?
you’re absolutely correct, if no witness no crime!!
I needed this in in charge of tools and my family is full of honey butter fiends
It’s so easy. Everyone will love it!
I can vouch for this recipe. It is amazing! Lillie used almost a full cup full on her one roll because she loved it so much! Thanks for sharing the recipe, I will definitely be using it later. Pinning!
Speaking of Lillie… Dax wants to know when we can play again.
This looks SO good! I will definitely be making this sometime soon. Pinned!
I loved this butter!! It tasted so awesome! I had a few extra rolls from my rhodes post that I didn’t need so I tried it on one (or a couple) of them hot out of the oven. To. Die. For. SO DELICIOUS!!
