Enjoy peach season all year long with this homemade peaches and cream oatmeal! Ready in under 5 minutes and perfect for fresh or canned peaches! Dare I say this recipe is even BETTER than the pre-made packets!

Recipe Features:

  • Quick and Easy Breakfast: Ready in under 5 minutes and easy enough for kids to make on their own.
  • Easy to Customize: Try soy milk, all water, or different fruit for your own spin.
  • Great for Fresh, Frozen or Canned Fruit

I am a BIG fan of oatmeal for breakfast. Oats are one of those things that are so incredibly easy to customize and keep you full just long enough that you don’t need to snack before lunch. The flavors are limitless which means you can find something for each family members tastes. Personally, we are all about this peach oatmeal recipe.

Peaches are in season and are all over the fruit stands right now. I pick up a small bag every Monday and it never fails that this quick breakfast recipe is requested the next day. It’s so dang good.

Peaches and Cream Oatmeal Ingredients:

You don’t need more than a handful of ingredients for this peaches and cream oatmeal. Most are probably pantry staples!

  • Peaches- Fresh, frozen or canned will work. Just be sure to thaw the frozen ones before adding them to the oats. We leave ours out on the counter for 20 minutes before cooking.
  • Water and Milk- Or cream. We lean more towards milks since we have them handy but it is a real treat when you splash a little cream in.
  • Quick Oats- Although, you could easily make this stove top with old fashioned oats.
  • Brown Sugar- Optional. You could also use maple syrup or honey.
  • Cinnamon, Salt and Nutmeg- Just a dash to compliment the fall flavor of peach.
  • Vanilla Extract- Always opt for pure vanilla not imitation.

Can you use canned peaches?

Yep! Just be sure to drain them before. You can also use frozen peaches that have been slightly thawed.

What kind of oats should I use?

This recipe is made in the microwave and does best with quick oats. However, you could switch the cooking method to stove top and use a rolled oat for equally delicious results.

How to Make Oatmeal with Peaches:

  1. Combine the peach, water, milk, quick oats, sugar (if using), cinnamon, Nutmeg, and Salt in a medium microwave safe bowl.
  2. Heat for 3 minutes, stirring once halfway through cooking.
  3. Carefully remove from the microwave and stir in a small dash of vanilla extract.
  4. Top with additional milk or cream and enjoy.

Recipe Tips and FAQs

I think this peaches and cream oatmeal recipe is perfect as is, however you could always mix things up by following some of these tips:

  • Add more or less sugar to taste. If your peaches are sweet and ripe you might not need any sugar. If they are a little less sweet you might need a teaspoon more.
  • Mix in a handful of blueberries for an even more flavor packed treat!
  • Try almond milk or coconut milk for a sweet flavor boost.
How do you make good oatmeal?

The secret to a good oatmeal is quality add-ins. Using ripe in season fruit with spices will send the flavor over the edge. A good sweetener, like maple syrup or brown sugar, is another way to incorporate some sweetness. You can also experiment with milk varieties. Our favorite? Coconut milk!

What are the ingredients in peach oatmeal?

Peach oatmeal is fairly basic and includes rolled oats, peaches, milk, water, and spices.

How to make peach oatmeal dairy free?

This recipe can easily be made dairy free by substituting the milk with water or soy milk.

Is peaches and cream oatmeal good for you?

Yes, as long as you keep the sweetener to a minimum. Oats are one of the healthiest gluten-free whole grains and a great source of vitamins. You get a good dose of fiber and antioxidants with every bowl.
