These Spider Web Oreo Cookies are a quick way to add a spooky treat to your holiday.
OK, how cute are these cookies? About a week ago my mom begged me to come over and teach her how to make these Frankenstein Cookies. While I was there we got a little creative and tried to come up with a few more cute little characters. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to perfect any of those BUT these ones turned out pretty awesome.
The idea started when I dipped a cookie in solid white and created a little spider with an M&M. My dad decided that cookie was his favorite which got me thinking about spiders… spiders spin webs… I’ve made a web on a cheesecake… It can’t be that difficult…
And the next thing I knew I had 12 of these waiting to dry. It really is one of the more simple design ideas but gives you a very elegant finish. I decided to do white with a black web but next time I might invert the colors and go black with a white one. You don’t have to limit your color choices either. Get creative and mix things up!
Start by inserting a popsicle stick into the center of the Oreo cookie. I like to use double stuffed since it gives you a bit of a thicker base to use. Next, spoon a little melted white chocolate (or candy melts) over your cookie gently tapping off the excess. I spoon it because dipping it straight down causes the cookie to fall off the stick 9 times out of 10.
Melt a tiny bit of black candy melts in a small sandwich bag. Snip the corner and pipe a bulls eye ring like the one above while the base chocolate is still wet.
Next you will take a clean toothpick and drag from the inside dot to the outer edge. Repeat until the desired look is achieved.
I even liked the ones that we started on the edge. It broke up the traditional design and kept things unique. So, what do you think? Worth giving a try this year? If you do make sure you tag me on social media! I’d love to see your creations!
